Path-guided wrinkling of nanoscale metal films.
Surface wrinkling instability is typically caused by compressive stresses in layered systems. In a bilayer system with a stiff surface layer on a drastically more compliant substrate, spontaneous wrinkle patterns emerge as a result of the wrinkling instability. The wrinkle patterns can be controlled to form ordered surface structures, offering an unconventional method for microfabrication. [ 1–...
متن کاملRaman characterization of pseudocapacitive behavior of polypyrrole on nanoporous gold.
The practical applications of high-capacitance polypyrrole (PPy) as an active material for electrochemical supercapacitors are mainly limited by their poor cycling stability. By utilizing nanoporous gold enhanced Raman scattering of PPy, we investigated ex situ and in situ the structural origins of the low electrochemical stability of PPy. This study provided direct evidence that the stability ...

This paper reports a methodology for synthesizing and ordering gold nanorods into two-dimensional arrays at a water/hexane interface. This preparation method allows the systematic control of the nanoparticle film thickness. An investigation into the thickness-dependent surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) of the adsorbed molecules revealed the nanorod (NR) films to have 1 order of magnitude...

Monolithic hierarchical nanoporous gold disks, 500 nm in diameter, 75 nm in thickness and 3.5 nm in pore radius, have been fabricated by hybrid processes. A surface-enhanced Raman scattering enhancement factor of at least 10(8) has been obtained on individual disks using benzenethiol self-assembled monolayer with 785 nm laser excitation.
متن کاملA Comparative Plasmonic Study of Nanoporous and Evaporated Gold Films
Previously, we have reported that nanoporous gold (NPG) films prepared by a chemical dealloying method have distinctive plasmonic properties, i.e., they can simultaneously support localized and propagating surface plasmon resonance modes (l-SPR and p-SPR, respectively). In this study, the plasmonic properties of NPG are quantified through direct comparison with thermally evaporated gold (EG) fi...
